What is Dotcomrecycling.com?
Dotcomrecycling.com is a retail sales site all about recycling and reuse.  We buy assets from bankruptcies, closed manufacturing facilities, and companies liquidating excess items.  Then we sort, categorize, research, repair, refurbish, or even hack equipment to make it work again.  We'll do what we can to make something useful again.  If we're unsuccessful, we'll try to get the equipment to someone with more knowledge (or smarter :) ).  Failing that, after a year or so we'll remove some useful components and make sure the remaining portion gets donated to a recycler who can extract additional parts and metals for recycling.

Why should I buy from Dotcomrecycling.com?
Dotcomrecycling.com cares about you and the challenges you face at work and at home.  We stock what we have on our Web Site, and we have an electrical engineer on staff (part time) to help you make your purchasing decisions. Our goal is to 1) Help you succeed in your projects. 2) Answer your questions about an item so you don't end up with something you don't need.  3) Provide a limited warranty or satisfaction guarantee so you'll be happy with your purchase.  4) Offer after sales support whenever possible.  5) Keep our prices reasonable so you can build your company in a smart and "sane" manner.  6) Provide a little email levity sometimes. :)

Why should I NOT buy from Dotcomrecycling.com?
Dotcomrecycling.com does not have calibration facilities for test equipment. We verify proper operation of test equipment as much as possible before shipment.  If calibration (or pre-calibration testing) fails at the facility you have chosen, you can always return the unit for a full refund.  However, any amount paid to the calibration house is not covered.  We will tell you if we have any suspicion an item cannot be calibrated. Fortunately, this problem is rare.

If you choose to use Telogy http://www.telogyinc.com in Union City, CA for calibration services, we will drop off the equipment at their location for no charge.

Why doesn't Dotcomrecycling.com post a phone number?
Dotcomrecycling.com is about keeping our prices low, while helping more than one person stay employed during these difficult economic times.  Therefore, all of our staff is part time.  Email reduces our costs while helping us stay organized and able follow through on any promises made.

Why are competitors' ads on Dotcomrecycling.com's Web site??
Remember, Dotcomrecycling.com is all about helping you find what you need.  We're not going to push the sale of an item which you cannot use.  If our equipment does not have the options you need, our cost for a particular item is not in line with your goals, or the market has a really good deal available, then we want you to go for it.  Just make sure the warranty terms and risk factor are OK first.  We're still hoping you'll come back to us in the future. :)

Also, ad revenue will hopefully help balance some increased overhead costs and keep our prices to you low.  Every click you make will help, and should result in good karma. :)

Why does Dotcomrecycling.com make such a big deal about ESD?
We see ESD (Electrostatic discharge) as a silent killer of valuable electronics.  It's like carbon monoxide for humans.  You may not notice the effects for a long time.  Unfortunately, it seems most vendors still don't understand the importance of ESD controls or protective shipping methods.  PC Boards in pink plastic stacked together then covered with expanding foam doesn't cut it for several reasons.  Please see the ESD guide on our Web Site for more info.

Why are some packages from Dotcomrecycling.com weird looking inside?
Dotcomrecycling.com cares about the item you purchased.  We'll package for crush, shock, vibration, and/or ESD protection as appropriate.  No one on our staff understands aesthetics though, just look at our Web site. :)  We have had the unfortunate experience of receiving items packed in boxes barely larger than the item itself, with no or inappropriate padding, with padding on the bottom only, in crummy boxes, or with fragile and heavy items packed together.  Some of these were even from large dot coms or large resellers.  We'll try hard not to disappoint.  Just don't expect it to be pretty.

In the rare circumstance an item we ship is damaged, we will not make you wait for a refund.  It can take 90 days or more for a carrier to deny a  claim.

Why does it take so long to get a response to technical questions sometimes?
Dotcomrecycling.com has outgrown its warehouse space.  Some items are difficult to access or even find in order to answer your question.  We will be moving to a larger space soon, but unfortunately some problems will continue until we have settled in.  Please always feel free to resend your question; once in a while we overlook one or it gets lost in spam.  If your need is urgent, please remind us.  We won't be offended by repeat questions.

How can I trust Dotcomrecycling.com?
Dotcomrecycling.com has been in business since 2001.  Since we stock the items we sell, we won't be
back-ordering equipment with your money.  The equipment will be here for you when you make payment.
